  • Course Description
The goal of this (one-year) course is to teach students the basic concepts of probability and statistics, and its applications in psychology. Topics include probability, random variables and distributions, expectations and variances, sampling distributions, law of large numbers, central limit theorem, hypothesis testing (z, t, chi-square, etc.), analysis of variance, covariance and correlation, and linear regression. We will use R, a free software environment for statistical computing and graphics, for some of the homework problems. The weekly 實習課 led by TAs is mainly for teaching R and also for problem solving.
  • Course Objective
To acquaint you with the key concepts and principles of statistics.
  • Course Requirement
  • Expected weekly study hours after class
    3 < E(study time in hours) < infinity
  • Office Hour
  • Designated Reading
Selected chapters/sections from “Modern Mathematical Statistics with Applications” (3rd edition) by Jay L. Devore, Kenneth N. Berk, Matthew A. Carlton (Other relevant topics from book chapters or papers will be uploaded to NTU COOL.)
