卡納普是二十世紀最偉大的哲學家之一，以邏輯實證論（又稱作邏輯經驗論）的開創者聞名。卡納普在許多的哲學領域當中，具有非常大的影響力，包括科學哲學、語言哲學、數學哲學、邏輯和語意學、甚至是形上學。最近幾年來，特別在兩個議題上，卡納普哲學再次受到重視：在後設存有學的討論中，不少人主張卡納普的存有貶義論，而在概念工程學的討論中，也有不少人主張卡納普的闡釋方法論。 在本課程中，我們會研讀卡納普的主要著作。我們會特別聚焦在卡納普十分具有影響力的幾本書，從當中挑選閱讀材料，包括《世界的邏輯結構》、《科學的統一性》、《語言的邏輯語法》、《語意學導論》、《意義與必然性》等書。我們也會研讀卡納普的幾篇重要論文，包括〈形上學的消除〉、〈可檢測性與意義〉、以及〈經驗論、語意學、與存有學〉等。

本課稱目標在使學生能夠 (1) 理解卡納普哲學的主要主題，並且(2) 能對於這些議題提出自己的見解。

每週我們將閱讀指定的文本材料。每一位修課學生需要認領閱讀的文本於課堂中報告，並參與課堂討論。
