The primary goal of this course is for undergraduate students to learn accurate writing strategies and improve their writing ability. It also aims to familiarize students with fundamental skills concerning academic English writing. Topics to be covered include common rhetorical patterns, essay development, summary skills, grammar functionality, and essential vocabulary in academic English. The course addresses the following patterns of essay writing: (1) Process (2) Narrative (3) Cause and Effect (4) Classification (5) Argument
- 課程目標By the end of the course, students will: 1. Understand common rhetoric modes in academic writing 2. Apply their knowledge of grammar function to their own writing 3. Demonstrate familiarity with vocabulary frequently used in academic writing 4. Edit and proofread their own and their peers’ writing
- 課程要求1. Students are required to attend all classes. No more than three excused absences are permitted. 2. Active participation in class discussions is required. 3. Late assignments will not be accepted. 4. No plagiarism. A grade of “0” may be earned for plagiarism or other forms of dishonesty.
