  • 課程概述
Novice researchers often need to present credible and persuasive evidence and ideas to a variety of audiences in writing. Research writing tasks may include finding sources, evaluating their credibility, and successfully integrating them into academic texts. This course assumes a basic understanding of English grammar and mechanics and will help students work on a mini-project to write up a well-researched, organized, and correctly documented paper. They will learn how to find, evaluate, and document sources as well as smoothly incorporate information from research into their writing while following the principles of academic integrity. Students will ultimately demonstrate the ability to make conscious decisions about style, genre, sources, and citation style.
  • 課程目標
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: * analyze a topic of inquiry through scholarly research. * communicate findings of scholarly research through writing. * evaluate sources and use summary, analysis, synthesis and integration to construct a literature review on a topic chosen by the student. * understand the rationale for academic citation and apply a commonly used citation style. * make stylistic choices and revise for style and consistency at the document, paragraph, and sentence levels.
