• This Freshman English course aims to equip students with the linguistic proficiency necessary for academic success in English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) courses. Throughout the academic year, students will develop essential strategies for comprehending and analyzing both written and spoken academic texts. Emphasis will be placed on fostering effective communication skills through structured speaking activities that replicate real-world EMI communication scenarios, thereby enhancing students' overall communicative competence. • The course is grounded in a diverse range of well-established foreign language teaching methodologies, including Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Task-Based Learning (TBL), Project-Based Learning (PBL), Content-Based Instruction (CBI), and Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (TELL). These approaches are integrated to provide a dynamic and interactive learning environment that supports students in acquiring and applying English language skills in academic contexts. • Prerequisite: Successful completion of the first semester of Freshman English and approval from the course instructor.

By the end of this yearly course, students will be able to:  Comprehend complex and lengthy texts, recognizing both explicit and implicit meanings.  Communicate effectively in English, deliver well-organized presentations, and highlight key points when synthesizing information.  Summarize and integrate information from different sources and present coherent written arguments.  Approach learning in an EMI setting with increased confidence and motivation and with reduced anxiety.
