- 課程概述The content of this course will be based on the scientific background of protein crystal culture, crystal culture principles, crystal culture equipments and crystal culture practice. Students will first receive three lectures on the scientific theory of protein crystal growth, and then practice crystal growth in person and make long-term records and observations. It is hoped that after completing this course, students will have a full understanding of the actual experimental procedures required for protein crystal growth and the developments of current crystal culture technology. 本課程內容將以蛋白質養晶之科學背景、養晶原理、養晶設備和養晶實作為主要內容。學生將會先接受三次蛋白質養晶科學理論之演講,之後親自實際養晶,並做長期之記錄和觀察。希望在完成本課程之後,學生能對蛋白質養晶所需之實際實驗程序和現今養晶技術之發展有充分的認知。
- 課程目標This course mainly introduces the basic theory and practice of protein crystal growth. At a time when structural biology has received potential attention from life sciences, this course hopes to help graduate students understand: 1) the principles and processes of protein crystal growth, and then 2) have the willingness and 3) ability to actually carry out protein crystal growth. 本課程主要是介紹蛋白質養晶之基礎理論和實作。在結構生物學潛在已受到生命科學重視之際,本課程希望能幫助研究生瞭解蛋白質養晶之原理和過程,進而有實際進行蛋白質養晶之意願和能力。
- 課程要求1. This class will be taught in English. 2. This is a weekly class, and the fixed weekly day for this class is yet to be discussed in the week 1 class. 3. You will need a computer with Microsoft Excel (any version) installed for one of the classes. 4. In the actual crystal growing experience, providing your own protein samples for crystallization screening is highly recommended.
