Loading...- Course DescriptionThis course will cover fundamental aspects of biological chemistry, structural biology, and chemical biology. Compared to undergraduate level biochemistry, this course will emphasize molecules, mechanisms, structures, and major techniques in structural biochemistry
- Course ObjectiveThe goal for this course is to make sure that every graduate student in IBS, including both master and Ph. D. students, and regardless of chemistry or biology background, will have acquired the up-to-date knowledge in biological chemistry, including chemical biology and structural biochemistry.

60% Mid-term exam
Paper-based examination with problems based on the material taught in this class (up to 10% bonus points will be available for active participation in discussions and interactions in the classes)
40% Group presentation
10% from each instructor 10% from students’ average - Tell a story about an important biology problem and how structural biology is used to address the problem at a molecular level - The presentation content should include at least two different structural biology tools taught in this course - The presentations will be carried out in English - The figures and animations should be prepared by PyMol, ChimeraX or any molecular structure visualizing software packages. They cannot be taken directly from the papers. - 30 min presentation for each group (each group can decide its format and member contributions) - 20 min Q&A from instructors and fellow students
