Core Competence Courses(Interpretation Track)

Course Description This course is designed to introduce to students fundamental skills for consecutive interpreting through hands-on practice with different topics, and end with a joint final exam in both E-C and C-E. In between, emphasis is placed on stage presence, presentation, active listening, identification of main messages, note-taking skills, and so on. Students will hone these skills through class practice/discussions, and are expected to expand vocabulary, improve register and engage in self-motivated practice sessions outside the class.

By the end of this semester, students should be able to provide consecutive interpretation on general topics for at least 10 minutes, with adequate Presentation (delivery/language) and Content (meaning/coherence).
