本課程為課堂講授2小時；限大學部高年級與碩士班以上學生選修。 課程內容可區分為兩大主軸，其一是實驗方法，將介紹火成岩樣品的前處理，以及主量元素含量、微量元素含量、同位素比值等的主流分析方法與儀器原理，另一是火成岩地球化學數據，將說明如何評估與呈現數據，以及如何運用數據探討地質問題。
