It is essential for students to obtain the capabilities of locating, consuming, creating, communicating, and evaluating digital content for learning and everyday life. In higher education systems, students should be able to navigate themselves and others in a digital environment efficiently. To fulfill digital citizenship, students need to utilize digital technologies to address social problems and enhance social well-being. This course introduces concepts in relation to digital literacy, including the definition of digital literacy; learning technologies in higher education; misinformation, disinformation, and deepfake; cyberbullying; information security and privacy; digital divide; and ethics of AI. Furthermore, this course address research areas in digital social innovation, including digital citizenship; agency and social embeddedness; problems and opportunities; and structuring and scaling digital social innovation.
- Course ObjectiveBy the end of the course, students will be able to: 1. Describe the definition and primary aspects of digital literacy. 2. Utilize digital technologies for effective learning. 3. Identify misinformation/disinformation and critically think and evaluate information sources. 4. Develop personal strategies for enhancing digital well-being for self and others. 5. Obtain basic knowledge of digital social innovation.
