This course will prepare students to pass an internationally recognized exam (Start Deutsch II or Zertifikat B1). Therefore, the course will also familiarize students with the format and requirements of these exams. The teaching method relates to the communicative language teaching approach, which means that the pragmatic usage of the foreign language in a relevant and modern setting is taught. You will be required to speak German and take part in training of medium/advanced writing in the foreign language. The course will be taught mainly in German with frequent comparisons between Chinese, English, and German in order to work with positive and negative interferences. In the first weeks, we will catch up with the lessons from DaF kompakt A2 and then switch to DaF kompakt B1.
- Course ObjectiveMain objective: reach Level B1 CEFR Complete the basics of the grammar and syntax of the German language Strengthening the four basic language competencies Better understanding of German cultural patterns within and without the language
- Course RequirementYou will be required to actively take part in general teaching activities and group discussions, speak German, and turn in at least two thirds of all written assignments. Regular and punctual attendance will be factored in your final score. If you aim for an A, your frequent contributions should be in German, constructive and self-motivated.
