  • Course Description
This German course level A1 (basic speaker) is the so-called breakthrough or beginner level. It is a course for students without any or very few knowledge of the German language. We work in our German language studies during our NTU-Spring Semester with the text and workbook (incl. CDs) >Berliner Platz 1 NEU<. Our language work focuses on phonetics, pronunciation and the first reading, to create a familiar relation with the German language and acquire it also as a basically correct spoken language. Well spoken -even simple- words improve the listening comprehension (Hoerverstehen - HV) and lead later to a comprehension of a whole sentence without any written support. We study in the German grammar among others nouns, articles and prepositions in ‘dative’ (after we saw already nominative & accusative), imperative forms, modal verbs, the perfect tense (haben / sein & Partizip II). More writings (ABER HALLO A1 Uebungen) let us practice structures of words and sentences, the so-called German syntax. The oral expression and active participation (even in this beginner level) of every student is not only desired and welcome, but important to exercise the spoken language. 'Learning by doing' is the most effective or efficient way to remind and learn a foreign language. The language work of this NTU-Spring Semester consists in the acquisition of the lesson 6-7 until lesson 11 (5 Kapitel oder Lektionen) of our book, until the final examination in June. 'Deutsch im Alltag' means German in everyday life, and this lets us discover the country, German habits and customs, and we can also compare this European culture with Taiwan. Very important for this language acquisition beside of the language work in our class is the continuous and intensive work of each student in self or group studies with the workbook, the transcripts and especially the CDs, to deepen, steady or solidify each lesson. Uebung macht den Meister - Practice makes perfect.
