  • Course Description
This course is designed for first-year international students. It also offers interested local students the opportunity to experience Taiwanese culture together. This lecture opens with a course introduction to briefly explain the course content and regulations. Followed by a self-introduction and split students into groups. Students will be divided into groups of five, one local plus four foreign, to visit different locations every week starting Sept. 15. The points of interest may include but are not limited to the night market, temples, memorial halls, museums, cultural center, eco-parks, old streets, historic relicts, and firefly watching. All students must send their PPTs to the instructor one day before the next meeting. The instructor will then summarize and conclude the reports in the second-hour lecture.
  • Course Objective
    1. Help international students to overcome the language barrier. 2. Make friends and hit it off with local students through collaborative projects and cultural exchange. 3. Guide international students on utilizing all available resources to enjoy/enrich their college lives. 4. Encourage students to explore themselves freely, develop critical thinking, time management skills, and express abilities.
  • Course Requirement
Attendance is expected. If you find that you must miss class, do file the leave of absence on my NTU. You are allowed one free absence in this course. After that, each unauthorized absence will fail the course. Students must participate in every field trip and summarize a 10-minute group report to be presented in the class next week. Each student will take turns stepping up to the podium in the five discussions.
