This course is designed for first-year international students and also welcomes local students who are interested in exploring Taiwanese culture together. The first lecture will provide an overview of the course content and guidelines, followed by student self-introductions and group assignments. Students will be divided into groups of five—each consisting of one local and four international students. Starting from September 15, each group will visit a different cultural or historical site every week. Destinations may include, but are not limited to, night markets, temples, memorial halls, museums, cultural centers, eco-parks, old streets, historical landmarks, and firefly-watching locations. All students are required to submit their group presentation slides (PPT) to the instructor one day before the next class. The instructor will then summarize and discuss the group reports during the second hour of the lecture.

1. Support international students in overcoming language barriers. 2. Foster friendships and meaningful connections with local students through collaborative projects and cultural exchange. 3. Guide international students in making full use of available resources to enhance and enrich their college experience. 4. Encourage students to freely explore their identities, develop critical thinking and time management skills, and express their abilities with confidence.

Attendance is mandatory. If you must miss a class, please submit a leave of absence through the “My NTU” system in advance. One unexcused absence is permitted without penalty; however, any additional unapproved absences will fail of the course. Active participation in all field trips is required. Each group must prepare a 10-minute presentation summarizing their experience, to be delivered in the following week’s class. During the five scheduled group discussions, each student is expected to take turns presenting at the podium.
