Throughout the course, students will develop essential skills crucial for academic English writing. The curriculum encompasses various rhetorical patterns, including argumentative, descriptive, problem-solution, exploratory, and reactions essays. Alongside the rhetorical aspects, the course emphasizes grammar functionality, vocabulary usage, and the features of academic English writing. Course Levels: English Composition (Ⅰ) (1):Paragraphs to Essays English Composition (Ⅰ) (2):Essays English Composition (ⅠⅠ)(1):Essays English Composition (ⅠⅠ)(2):Research Papers
- Course ObjectiveBy the end of the course, students will: 1. Use standard written English effectively 2. Understand common rhetoric modes in academic writing 3. Apply knowledge of grammar function to their own writing 4. Demonstrate familiarity with vocabulary frequently used in academic writing 5. Identify features of academic writing and apply them to organize their ideas into a logical and coherent text.
- Course Requirement1. No more than three excused absences are permitted. 2. Active participation in class discussions is required. 3. Submit assignments on time; late work is not accepted. 4. Credit all sources properly and disclose any AI assistance. 5. Never use AI to generate outlines or texts for assignments.
