The focus is on how firms can manage these influences on their operations and assess their strengths and weaknesses to make the best adjustments. In addition to providing students with a framework for analyzing politics in global supply chains, the course utilizes case studies to help students comprehend the strategic and behavioral options companies have in responding to geopolitical tensions. Through real case analysis, students will gain insights into empirical applications of these strategies and behaviors.
- Course ObjectiveUnderstand the impact of international and domestic political forces on global supply chains. Develop analytical frameworks to assess political risk and its implications for global business operations. Explore strategic options available to firms in managing geopolitical tensions and regulatory challenges. Applying theoretical concepts to real-world case studies involving supply chain disruptions, trade policy shifts, and political conflict. Cultivate critical thinking skills for evaluating how companies adapt their supply chain strategies in response to dynamic political environments.
- Course RequirementIdentify key political and geopolitical factors that influence global supply chains, such as trade policies, sanctions, regulatory changes, and geopolitical conflicts. Evaluate different strategic tools and behavioral approaches companies can adopt to manage or mitigate the impact of political pressures. Demonstrate an ability to synthesize political economy theory with practical business considerations in written and/or oral case analyses.
