The course will train students in writing an academic journal research paper. It will begin with an introduction to academic English and cover the structural framework of each section of an academic paper (IMRD). Students will also be trained on how to make an oral presentation of a research paper. The course content includes: 1. Features of Academic Writing 2. The Moves and Steps in Research Papers 3. Summaries and Literature Reviews 4. Writing Abstracts 5. 1. Critically evaluate and analyze a variety of texts for academic purposes. 2. Recognize the moves and steps in constructing research papers. 3. Identify features of academic writing and apply this knowledge to their own writing. 4. Make effective written and oral presentations of one’s own research.

1. Students are required to attend all classes. No more than three excused absences are permitted. 2. Active participation in class discussions is required. 3. Late assignments will not be accepted. 4. No plagiarism. A grade of “0” may be earned for plagiarism or other forms of dishonesty.
